Sixth Grade Teacher "and the City"

So Thursday night I entered a Sex and the City look alike contest as Charlotte....I've been told I resemble Kristin Davis and thought "what the heck," I have the clothes and I'm on vacation. So I entered and drug my friend Kristin N. with me. We got there and it was hilarious. People were dressed up, KOMO 4 and KING 5 News were there with TV cameras... and I was lookin' like Charlotte. And then, my friend, Kristin, the 6th grade teacher who has never seen an episode in her life...Kristin who just got off work and came for moral support (I have great friends!) Kristin, who has great hair... got pulled out of the crowd by the judges and won 4th place as Carrie! No, I didn't win, but the night was hilarious. My friend had to stand on the stage, mortified, and pretend to know something about the show. She even ended up on the News for her 6th Grade students to see! No, she looks nothing like Sarah Jessica Parker... but I think that incredible hair of her's (which looks nothing like SJP's) did the trick. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. Again, I have such great friends (see Kristin below...she's the one on the left - the other one is Amy. Sorry boys, she's taken!!!)

Eowyn

For those of you who don't know my family... or for you "Lord of the Rings" fans out there (believe it), my cousin Ben married a wonderful girl named Galadriel. Naturally, their first daughter was named Eowyn. Don't really know what would have happened if they had a son instead. Anyhow, she is absolutely beautiful and a joy to our entire family. Love you Wynnie!!!!

Nice

It was the perfect way to end the Sonics season. The last game I went to, my brother
Brian and I were given courtside seats. Isn't he adoreable?

Mt Hood

Wow, I have a lot to catch up on. I just realized my last post was in Dec. '07.... I guess it was almost a month ago, but I went with friends from City Church to Mt. Hood for a weekend, and had SO MUCH FUN. Saw the creepy lodge from "The Shining" of course.

Shoes

As requested, here is the page I created to help me remember what shoes I have in my closet. C'mon, I know you all do the same thing. You wear the same ones over and over b/c you don't remember what you have. For the record, this is page 1 out of ___ pages I created for this purpose :) Yes, I have a lot of time on my hands these days.

Girls night

My little friend Steph spent the night with me the night before Easter. We've been friends since she was a baby, and I can't tell you how much I love this girl. (That's my messy closet in the background. Oops!) Steph informed me that she would like me to marry someone in construction. She, on the other hand, wants to marry a president.

The Supes

These two goofballs won the "Seattle's Luckiest Fan" contest last year... a contest we held in conjuntion with the Seattle newspapers and the Sonics. They won, and have been used at various Sonics events since. This particular picture was taken on my birthday back in June at the Draft Day Party.

Go Hawks!

One of the highlights of my job has been the opportunity to 1. Work with the Seahawks, they really are a fantastic and caring organization.... 2. Learn a little bit about football while I'm at it :). In fact, someone just e-mailed me an updated Excel Spreadsheet explaining the different playoff scenarios that could take place at this point. I love it! Anyhow, here are a few personal highlights of my involvement with this year's Seahawks season.

With Josh Brown back in August... my first NFL crush.

With Lofa Tatupu's mom, Linnea. She helped
me incorporate 2 of Lofa's military related
charities into our KTTH promotion for the
Military Appreciation Night in November.
(Click here to learn more our Military
Appreciation Promo on Seahawks.com.)

With my friend Nathanael at one of the games. We helped "Stuff the Bus" full of school supplies for Shaun Alexander's 30th birthday.

Meeting Mike

Earlier this month I had the honor of meeting one Presidential Candidate, Governor Mike Huckabee while he was in town for a fundraiser. I was very impressed with a lot of things I saw in him that night, but what stuck out to me the most was his optimism and his generational vision...clearly things I value as well. I haven't made a full, conscious decision to support him personally, but I am now determined to pay more attention to and carefully consider this candidate who is suddenly surging forward in Iowa.

Parking Hazards

I have so much more to blog about, I really do, but all I have energy to blog about right now is this picture. This is what happens when you park your car on the wrong street before a parade. I was cracking up when I went back to my car and found this.
